Continuing the legacy of Palana Village's original resident, Daryl Butler, Palana Beach Retreat is a 3 bedroom residence with stunning north facing views overlooking Blyth Bay and the Sister Islands and some of the most breath-taking, beautiful scenery you are likely to see.

The house is open plan with views from every window and is bathed in natural light. Sleeping up to 7 guests, the master bedroom has its own en-suite, whilst the large main bathroom has a corner spa with privacy and views out to the surrounds, with your choice of a king or two singles in the second bedroom, and a 3-person bunk bed in the third bedroom.

The Location

Palana Beach

Palana Village is idyllically located 45 minutes north of the island's major township, Whitemark, protected from the prevailing north-westerly winds by the hill it is nestled on, and overlooking picturesque Palana Beach and Blyth Bay.

One of 120 beaches on Flinders Island, you are very likely to have the entire 2km of white sand to yourself. Explore the crystal clear water, rolling dunes and coastal vegitation on the 1 hour return walk, or simply sit and admire the ocean views.

Flinders Island

Flinders Island is located off mainland Tasmania's north-east coast and offers visitors the opportunity to escape and explore its natural beauty, local produce and peace and quiet.

Flinders is the largest of the Furneaux Group of 52 islands and offers a range of great experiences - from walking beautiful, long, deserted beaches and lazy scenic drives to fishing, golfing, diving.

There's also a world of natural wonders to explore, from the pristine coastline, to the rugged grey and pink granite mountain ranges of the Strezlecki National Park, and plants and animals found nowhere else on earth.

Flights and transporation

Sharp Airlines flies the short leg to Whitemark from Launceston, Melbourne and Hobart. Their flight schedule is available here.

If you are feeling more adventurous, charter flights are available from both Tasmania and Victoria, and can land at the nearby Killiecrankie Airstrip. Contact us for more information.

Furneaux Freight operate water freight services out of Bridport in Tasmania and Port Welshpool in Victoria, which provide the main freight connection for the island, which provides limited passenger facilities. Details can be found here.

Hire a care from one of the two hire car companies on the island (Flinders Island Car Rental and Flinders Island Cabin Park and Car Hire), and discover the island at your own pace. Ask us for tips on locations!

Things to do

There's as much (or as little) to do as you like.

Walk in the beautiful, scenic surrounds (including the renowned Trousers Point), enjoy the high quality island food and drink (including at The Flinders Wharf in Whitemark, or for those feeling a little more advenurous The Furneaux Distillery), or take a day-trip fishing, boating or diving.

Or simply sit on the deck in the sunshine, reading a book and enjoying the sound of the waves as you breathe in the ocean views.
